Saturday Sessions have been revamped! Kicking off the evening from 6.30pm, we have a special tapas menu for just £5 per person. Various music maestros take to the decks to play a wild variety of beats upstairs in the pulpit, stepping it up during the later hours. Watch out for special cocktail concoctions...entry is free. Be sure not to miss a night of classic & contemporary tropical vibes coupled with stunning visuals from the highly acclaimed Zuppa Inglese on September 28th. Dust off your suits and dig out your red lipstick for the Saturday Sessions Film Noir Special on 14th August; it promises to be a night filled with music, mystery and glamour...fancy dress is a must! Mixing it up a bit, Saturday 28th August welcomes a night of live world music with an unusual twist from the wonderful Ragged Glory.

 

Live at the Globe continues to offer the very finest live performances every Friday, to suit a variety of tastes.

We have everything from Kangaroo Moon on 13th August, who weave many strands from world, rock, folk and dance, with acoustic and electronic influences, into a funky, psychedelic, heart-lifting wall of sound- to Gothique who bring us an evening of acoustic music inspired by sounds from the middle-ages. Make sure you catch Hail! The Planes when they visit us on the way to Green Man festival on Thursday 19th August, they've been described by Bethan Elfyn as 'the most exciting band in Wales right now'!

Friday 6th August, 8pm, £5

Live at the Globe: Andy Skellam/Baba Yaga's Consort/Hollowbody

A night of musical musing fresh from Bristol's alt-folk scene, with Andy Skellam, Hollowbody and Baba Yaga's Consort. Andy's beautiful guitar craftsmanship is reminiscent of Nick Drake and Bert Jansch, and is wonderfully supported by Baba Yaga's Consort, who in turn are known for their musical sorcery with delicate harmonies and tribal rhythms. And not to forget the wonderful Hollowbody, whose layabout country folk music was described by Uncut magazine as "Charmingly eccentric finger-picked songs that burrow into your head." A night not to be missed

Saturday Sessions: DJ Diablo

Special Tapas menu for just £5 per person, available from 6.30pm-8.30pm. From 8.30pm the fantastic DJ Diablo will be playing mix of mostly African dance music. Formerly a partner in ' Whole Music' a company that promoted African / World music in the late 80's with all the great African musicians (Ali Farka Toure/ Baaba Maal/ Bhundu Boys/ Papa Wemba etc)

Live at the Globe: Kangaroo Moon

Kangaroo Moon weave many strands from world, rock, folk and dance, with acoustic and electronic influences into a funky, psychedelic, heart-lifting wall of sound. Trancy, richly melodic and dancey, listeners experience a sound which unites the body and soul in deep, joyful psychedelia and elemental dance

Saturday Sessions: Film Noir Special- Cool Cat Collective & Friends

Join us for an evening filled with mystery, music and glamour. A classic movie from the film noir era kicks off the evening at 6pm, with special dishes to savour. Live music follows from the one and only cool cat collective, with DJs to take us well into the night. The dress code is strict- think glamorous femme fatales and dashing detectives.

Live at the Globe Special: Hail! The Planes

Described by Bethan Elfyn as 'the most exciting band in Wales right now', this post-folk quartet join us on the eve before they play Green Man Festival. Vocally inspired by the likes of Broken Social Scene and Arcade Fire, this is a band to watch. Come down and get into the pre festival spirit!

Live at the Globe: The Mouths

The Mouths play witty, gritty, groovy pop, reminiscent of Bowie, Blur and The Stranglers, and they return to The Globe after a hit appearance at the Festival here.

Savour their off-beat lyrics and surrender to the wicked grooves of songs like ‘Girls of Slender Means', ‘Keep it Unreal' and ‘I Forgive you Everything (Except for your Success)'

Saturday Sessions: DJ Winstan

Hereford-based DJ Winstan is definitely one to watch...at 8.30pm he'll take to the decks to play soul and funk upstairs in the pulpit, stepping it up with dancehall and dub during the later hours. Having graced the likes of Beachbreak Live and Secret Garden Party festivals, he knows how to keep the crowd on their feet! Start early...our special evening menu is available from 6.30pm.

The Sunday Film: Shutter Island

Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese join forces once more for Shutter Island, a drama set in 1954. U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels is investigating the disappearance of a murderess who escaped from a hospital for the criminally insane and is presumed to be hiding on the remote Shutter Island

Live at the Globe: Gothique

A duo that creates an evening of music with a difference! Rooted in music of the middle ages, tunes from around the world are played on the oud, symphonie (the medieval hurdy-gurdy), bagpipes, and percussion. Gothique brings together moody sephardic melodies and rhythmic arabic folk-music as well as more familiar tunes from across Europe.

Saturday Sessions: Ragged Glory

Ragged Glory play World Folk Music served up with a slice of tradition and a twist all of their own. They'll be sure to get you up and dancing!

Live at the Globe: Heed to the Thunder

Heed the Thunder - Alex Gordon's latest project. The man behind the band Lincoln has been wandering - playing with Beirut, Ted Barnes, Beth Orton, Citizen Fish, amongst others. And now he's found a community - in Herefordshire. And there are goats. Heed the Thunder are playing regularly around Herefordshire, and looking to unleash themselves on the world at large. This is a folk band never to be missed!

Live at the Globe: Mr. Lloyd

Mr Lloyd, who the hell is he? Wish we know, nevertheless the band play original material culled from the many influences four happy lads (oh yeah who are you kidding?!) have. Solid groves that fold away into train wrecks; lyrics that provoke your emotions in all directions. Right that's it, now just come and enjoy a fun band with a ‘what the hell' attitude.  Steve Williams - vocals and blues harp, Tony Lancet - lead guitar , Dez Bromage on electric drums and Mike Williams on bass

Live at the Globe: Evening Chorus

Evening Chorus took our breath away at HowTheLightGetsIn with their beautiful, harmonious folk songs. With a banjo, violin, guitar and cello, and four distinct yet complementary voices, these four friends are a band to watch. We are delighted to these festival favourites back at the Globe!

Saturday sessions: Zuppa Inglese

For 30 years Zuppa has been a DJ and promoter of African & Latin music, including for all the top live bands at the legendary "Bongo Go" Sessions in Birmingham . Some of the places played includes Arakataka (Edinburgh), El GocePagona (Bogota/Colombia) and Moseley Tropical (Birmingham). Zuppa is one of THE top DJ's in this area of Classic & Contemporary Tropical music! Our special evening menu will be available from 6.30pm.

Live at the Globe: Jonathan Powell & Band

New Welsh talent Jonathan Powell, was recently described as 'Genius and a little gem' by Frank Henessey and Amy Wadge on their BBC Radio Wales programme Jonathan's music, which has been described by several reviewers as urban folk, has a strong classical influence; he studied the viola at the Royal Academy of Music, London from the early age of 16 after winning the National Chamber competition 5 times!

Saturday Sessions: Rhubarb & Custard

Rueben and Barty take over the globe for one night only. They'll be pumping out tunes from the 1970s onwards, playing iconic songs that you forgot you ever loved! Our special evening menu will be available from 6.30pm.
