September

Mondays-Sundays 11am-late
Annabelle Ellotson, Maria Udvar, Denise Williams

Bold, expansive forms that combine clarity with a touch of the metaphysical from Annabelle Ellotson: working in the simplicity of graphite on paper, she creates a sculptural and multidimensional set of images that are both visually strong and enticingly complex.

A delicate porcelain sphere hovers in the centre of Maria Udvar's sculpture Wrapped In Cotton Wool, enclosed by a band of metal and finally 'wrapped' in a cotton wool sphere. Udvar captures the kinetic energy of the rotating sphere in her drawings by working in a spontaneous and rapid manner with colours left to run, blurring the definition between the space and forms.

Racks of test tubes filled with intricate objects draw you into Denise Williams' intimate world of stories of emotional unrest and the taxonomies of the mental health system. Private thoughts and spaces are documented boldly to create a series of sculptures that are reminiscent of Sylvia Plath in a visual medium and deeply compelling.

All the work on display is for sale. If you are interested and would like to know more, please contact Nina Lyon at the Globe on 01497 821762.
